Municipal energy diversification
The 31 October 2023 Tshwane Mayoral Energy Sector Roundtable assembled municipal officials and sector institutions to discuss energy security, new investment approaches and the municipality’s infrastructure priorities. Conversation included the proposed long-term role of Rooiwal and Pretoria West power-station assets.
Why THERO participated
THERO engaged in the debate around regulatory compliance, diversification, environmental sustainability and the just energy transition. For municipalities, the practical question is how proposed energy initiatives proceed through legal, technical, financial and stakeholder decisions in the right sequence.
