City of Johannesburg Urban Regeneration Initiative
Infrastructure Compliance is a key driver and direct investment in Infrastructure Sustainability and Resilience.
On March 11, our team joined representatives from the Gauteng Provincial Departments, Agencies, Municipality Entities, particularly the City of Johannesburg in an engagement of the revitalisation, regeneration of the CBD's in Gauteng to ensure high level of service, drive economic growth, achieve the highest level of compliance to Health and Safety standards, Building Regulations, Environmental Sustainability and Climate and Energy Conservation Design Thinking.
It was key to assess condemned, unsafe, and abandoned buildings and their impact on the city's Performance to match international standards and attract inner city investments, housing and business opportunities. Secondly, to assess the extent of informal and formal businesses in the city's major corridors, and lastly, to assess the city's integration with the transportation network.
It is critical to be mindful that thriving economies have sustainable infrastructure that is safe for their communities.
Thero Services deployed experts in Health & Safety, Environmental compliance, to capture and contextualise the state of the buildings, infrastructure and connectivity. This put us in a position to advise on the legal and regulatory instruments available in the South African legal landscape to address these concerns.
Why it matters: These assessments aren’t just technical; they’re the first step toward safer infrastructure, economic opportunity, and urban renewal. And they demand more than checklists. They require care, context, and partnerships
